Queenstown Destination Guide
Surrounded by the majestic Remarkables mountain range and sitting right on the still Lake Wakatipu, it is hard not to feel relaxed as soon as you arrive into Queenstown.
Actor John Travolta once said, “whenever I get stressed, I just want to hop on a plane to Queenstown.”
You can find Queenstown in New Zealand’s South Island. It is one of the world’s premier holiday destinations with so many incredible experiences jam-packed into the small town.
From its breathtaking scenery to its adrenaline-fuelled activities, from its serene golf courses to its world-class dining, every type of traveller has something to look forward to.

THINGS TO DO IN QUEENSTOWN
Try a world-famous Fergburger
Queenstown’s worst-kept secret is the much-loved Fergburger. Celebrities and local town folk alike go crazy over these burgers with the average queue stretching to the next block during peak time.
What makes them so good? Besides the fact that “you haven’t really been to Queenstown without having a Fergburger”, they have a great variety of burgers that are all so juicy and very satisfying. If they gave burger stores Michelin stars, this would have 2 or 3.
If burgers aren’t your thing but you’re craving a taste of “Ferg”, they have three other businesses conveniently located right next door to each other. And they are all very good! The bakery has the best pies in town, Mrs Ferg has mouth-watering gelato and the all-new Ferg bar is a great vibe.
EXPERIENCE A TASTING INSIDE A WINE CAVE
It is not every day you get to sip on the finest Central Otago wines inside a cave. At Gibbston Valley winery you can do just that.
Located 25 minutes from Queenstown, you can explore the famous wine cave, which is also New Zealand’s largest, and taste Gibbston Valley’s award-winning wines, headlined by their speciality pinot noir.
On our NZ South Island golf tour, we have booked a private tour to Gibbston Valley winery including a tasting inside their famous wine cave.
FIND YOUR ZEN IN AN ONSEN
While it is easy to find relaxation amongst the backdrop of Queenstown, go one step further to find your zen and indulge in an Onsen experience.
Is it also worth mentioning this place is a 3-time World Luxury Spa Award winner? Enjoy a glass of bubbles while you enjoy a bubbly spa that looks out to a stunning mountain range with Shotover river in the foreground.
It is the perfect way to unwind in between rounds or on our rest day during the NZ South Island golf tour. The Onsen pools are located only 10 minutes from the city and you should book well in advance to secure a spot.
IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE SERENITY OF FIORDLAND
Queenstown is the gateway to New Zealand’s most spectacular natural wonder, Milford Sound.
What makes this place so special is how remote it is. The steep cliffs and dense rainforest have left the fiords unspoilt – it is just you and nature.
You can enjoy the magical surroundings, ink-dark waters, and breathtaking waterfalls of Milford Sound either by cruising the calm waters or flying above the site.
Whilst not an inclusion of our NZ South Island golf tour, you can opt-in to a Milford Sound cruise or flight on our rest day. Just let us know and we’ll book it for you!
