Pueblo La Paz – A Golfer’s Oasis

Pueblo La Paz Golf Club is a beautiful parkland layout that is a part of Cordoba’s exclusive Big Four courses.

Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Chicas mountains, the golfer is taking on a journey through varying landscapes to provide the best views of its magnificent natural surroundings.

The story behind Pueblo La Paz

The club’s centerpiece is the Estancia, a World Heritage Site. It was built in 1830 and housed Julio Argentino Roca, a former president of Argentina at the end of the 19th century. The site was a former Jesuit community before it was transformed into a wonderful parkland with lakes and trees.

Throughout the 500-hectare property, there have been 3 distinct, incomplete, courses that date back to the start of the 19th century.

In 2011, local course architect FedericoFrankie’ Bunge began picking out the best 18 holes that took advantage of the landscape and the property’s history. In 2015, the course was opened for play.

The Course

“Frankie” Bunge takes the golfer on a beautiful adventure showing off every feature of the Estancia. The first two holes are set in the woods, the 3rd through to the 9th play across the Cordoba Hills, the 10th to 15th sit right on the Ascochinga River, before the final holes return you to the Estancia.

To enhance the golfing experience, Bunge added elevated tees to show as much of the incredible views and made the greens big and tilt from the line of play.

He has played around with the putting surface – some have more movement than others depending on the surroundings, the bunkers – some are more conventional than others, and the fairways – some are shaped to favour the draw and others the fade.

Furthermore, he has created alternative “safer options” to cater for the less experienced golfers, whilst also challenging the experts with strategic holes and constant variation.

The Signature Hole

Hole 12 – Rivera presents a stunning challenge and a truly unique play.

Tee off next to the tumbling river that follows the entire length of the hole providing one large water hazard mid-fairway.
