Paiute Golf Resort, wolf course

Paiute Golf Resort, wolf course

One of the last things you might think of about Las Vegas is its golf courses. It should really be the first thing. There are over 50 golf courses in the region, but the “Vegas Trifecta” at Paiute Golf Resort will stick out as the perfect golf play for any golfer. You can play one of the 3 courses as part of our fully escorted tours too!

“One-of-a-Kind that comes in threes”

A World Golf Hall of Fame inductee and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is behind the design of the Sun Mountain, Snow Mountain and Wolf courses at Paiute. Pete Dye has created three distinctive golfing layouts that infuse his infamous challenge of the course with his trademark elements.

Yes, the 3 courses may be designed by the same architect, however Dye has ensured you enjoy a different golfing experience from each one of the courses.

Tee-off on tribal land

The Paiute Golf Resort is not without its history. The Las Vegas Paiute Tribe are recognised as a Sovereign Nation by the Indian Reorganisation Act 1934. There ancestors, The Tudinu (“Desert People”), occupied territory encompassing part of the Colorado river, a large area of southwestern Nevada and parts of Utah and South California.

The tribe owns and runs the Paiute Golf Resort. Such a multi-course facility, was the first of its kind to be constructed on Native American Land.

COURSE DETAILS

Distance: 6953m

Holes: 18

The youngest of the 3 courses and also the longest course in Nevada stretching a remarkable 7604 yards, the Wolf course marries incredible length with raw beauty. The course is known for its extreme undulations, alternate landing areas, and a spectacular 15th hole island green that needs to be seen to be believed.

You might get lost in your round here. You could even literally get lost in the desert with a few wrong turns off the cart path. Your drives will go soaring off-target deep into areas that are unlikely to be found by another human ever.

SIGNATURE HOLE

You can’t go pass Hole 15 as the highlight of the Wolf Course. The hole sits alone on a stunning island green. The challenge is not just evading the surrounding water hazard, but landing your ball near the flag as the green stretches a large area punishing golfers with long putts if unsuccessful. Each year, it is said that about 20,000 golf balls end up in the water surrounding the 15th green.

DID YOU KNOW

An Australian holds the course record at Wolf Course. Karrie Webb, who currently competes in the LPGA Tour, scored 64 on the par 72 course.
