THINGS TO DO IN NAROOMA

Cruise the sparkling Wagonga Inlet

Narooma is derived from the Yuin term for ‘clear blue water’ and one cruise along the pristine Wagonga Inlet will make you understand why.

There is plenty to see by the water including Montague Island located nine kilometres off the coast. It holds historical significance, being a sacred island once used for ceremonies by the Yuin people. It also houses an iconic lighthouse that has been standing since 1881. Today, it holds biological significance as a nature reserve for seals and over 90 different species of bird.

Non-golfing partners on our Bushfire Recovery golf tour will get to enjoy the sparkling Wagonga Inlet on a cruise showcasing the Narooma’s beautiful landscape, flora and fauna.

Take a photo at Australia Rock

Some attractions need to be seen to be believed, and the natural phenomenon of Australia Rock is just that. Previously known as a hole in the rock, years of erosion has formed it into the shape of Australia (minus Tasmania).

One common story told is that a ship carelessly moored to the Wagonga Heads with large chains. The chains, due to the ferocity of the sea, wore the rock away to create the shape seen today. It is not known how long this amazing attraction will last.

To find Australia Rock, you can walk the trail to Wagonga Head – only 1200 metres from your hotel. Just before you reach the end of the trail you will see the hole in the rock on your right.

Enjoy a day of tastings in the serene Tilba Valley

Located 15 minutes south of Narooma, Tilba Valley Winery & Ale House sits on the shores of Lake Corunna surrounded by gum trees. This presents a picturesque and laidback setting for wine or ale tasting – whichever tickles your palate.

Those who enjoy their chardonnay, cab sav or riesling are in luck because that’s what the Tilba Valley is known for. They also have local and well-known brews like Balter and Sydney Brewery on tap at the ale house too.

If you’re feeling hungry, you must try their famous Ploughman’s lunch that pairs perfectly with your beverage. There are also nice pub meals and cheese plates available as well.

We’ll get to unwind at Tilba Valley for a tasting and lunch on tour.

Experience a bit of Hawaii in Narooma

Looking for a little bit of Hawaii in Narooma? You will find it only five minutes from your hotel at The Quarterdeck. They serve up some of the freshest local seafood on offer as well as refreshing Tiki cocktails looking out over Forster Bay.

Disguised as an old boat shed, you will walk into the venue to find photos of customers who have come and gone on the walls, fishing rods lining the ceiling and décor that belongs in a bar on the shores of Waikiki beach.

You can even taste a bit of Hawaii as they pour Kona Hawaiian Beer straight from the tap. We recommend you book a time, chuck a Hawaiian shirt on and enjoy the best dining experience in Narooma.
