Kemer Country Golf Club – Istanbul’s Golfing Gem
The Kemer Golf & Country Club is ranked among one of the most prestigious country clubs in Turkey. At the foothills of the Istrani mountains and just 30 minutes from Istanbul, it is a must-play for any golfer staying in the city.
The golf course is prepared by PGA certified golf professionals, who coach the Turkish National Team at the club’s training center.
STORY BEHIND KEMER COUNTRY GOLF CLUB
In 1995, former president of the British Institute of Golf Course Architects, Joan Dudok van Heel created the course in compliance with the USGA standards.
His course has helped in raising golf’s profile in Turkey. The club holds over 50 amateur golf tournaments annually making it the greatest contributor in the development of the sport.
THE KEMER COURSE
Spanning 6,113 metres, the layout is set on the rolling hills of the Belgrad Forest offering stunning views for a day’s golf.
Each hole is uniquely designed with its own character presenting a variety of challenges to keep every golfer motivated.
The course is deceptively narrow featuring lush green fairways and expertly contoured bunkers placed along ponds and woodland. In saying that, long drives won’t be much help here… the key to scoring well will be accurate and strategic shot selection.
THE SIGNATURE HOLE
The par-5 7th is one of the best at the Kemer Country Golf Club. It features a lake that snakes its way through the hole demanding the golfer to be strategic with shot selection. On top of the water hazard, you will play into the wind as you try and reach the green.
Our tip is to make sure you bring extra balls as many have been hit into the water.
DID YOU KNOW
The club’s golf director, Erol Şimşek, was one of the most prominent players in Germany. He was a regular competitor in the European Tour & won 4 tournaments in the European Challenge Tour.
