Chile’s Unique Hacienda Chicureo Golf Club

The Hacienda Chicureo Golf Club is a stunning course wedged between the beautiful hills of Santiago, Chile.

It is ranked in the top 10 courses in Chile and has been consistently nominated for Chile’s best golf course at the World Golf Awards.

STORY BEHIND HACIENDA CHICUREO GOLF CLUB

The course was an exclusive design by American course architect Mike Asmundon in 2002.

Between 2006-2010, the Hacienda Chicureo Open Copa BCI was played here. The 2010 professional tournament was included on the Tour de las Americas – a federation member of the PGA Tour.

THE HACIENDA CHICUREO COURSE

The layout of the course is one of the most unique in South America. It consists of two contrasting circuits that make for a fun round of golf.

The front nine runs through gently undulating terrain interrupted by ravines and a defining wind. It features a couple of lakes that protect the greens on the 4th and 6th.

On the other hand, the back nine routes through slopes and steeper gorges. Here the vegetation is more dense and varied and includes a few downhill doglegs.

THE SIGNATURE HOLE

The 420 metre 13th is a savage par 4 that begins with a blind downhill dogleg. You will need to adjust your shot to ensure it misses the lone specimen tree that sits in the middle of the fairway. Another distraction is the beautiful Colorado hill, which the hole wraps itself around.

DID YOU KNOW

The front nine is called “Loma Larga” which refers to the large hills to left of the circuit. The back nine is called “Cerro Colorado” which translates to Colorado Hill.
