Mornington Peninsula Golf Tour

10 – 16 November 2017

7 Days – 4 Rounds

Want some bragging rights at your local golf club? Then come to Australia’s #1 golf destination.

Tee off to the tune of the thundering Bass Strait in the region known as ‘the Cups’ for its proliferation of superb courses and prepare yourself for 4 spectacular rounds on Mornington peninsula’s prestigious courses, designed by golfing greats.

Golf will take you to Moonah Links (twice the host of the Australian Open), The National (a private golf club), the Dunes and Portsea Golf Club.

This fully escorted golf tour highlights all the good things this well-heeled Victorian enclave offers. Stay in Red Hill where you’ll hear the stories of passionate wine merchants, who grow their own fruit and produce their own wines. They’ll tell you all about the famed regional pinot noir and the cool-climate chardonnay, and let you in on the secrets of the newer regional varietals, including pinot grigio, pinot gris and shiraz.

Dine on exquisite cuisine made from fresh local produce at the spectacular Port Phillip Estate before you make your way to Sorrento. This breezy seaside village was the site of Victoria’s first official European settlement in 1803, so it will delight you with its charm and history. Here, you can breathe in the fresh sea air, soak up the relaxed alfresco lifestyle and explore the galleries, spas and cafes. Come early to join the Go Golfing Melbourne Cup tour (05-10 November)

7 Days – 4 Rounds

DAY 1: Friday 10 November Red Hill

Fly into Melbourne Tullamarine before 12pm for your group transfer to the picturesque Lindenderry Hotel in Red Hill on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula Hinterland. Set amongst vineyards and 30 acres of manicured gardens, it is the perfect place to unwind, sit back and relax. This evening, meet your fellow travellers at our welcome dinner is at the Linden Tree Restaurant.

Hotel: Lindenderry, Red Hill (D)

DAY 2: Saturday 11 November Red Hill

After breakfast, we make our way to Moonah Links Golf Club where we play the Legends course. It is sensational in every way as it offers wide fairways (any social golfer can enjoy this course) and generous greens. You will enjoy this course no matter what your ability is. The course is a loop of 18 holes that follow the valleys through a variety of landscapes ranging from ancient Moonah woodlands to open links land.

Take time to discover the area and you’ll be surprised by the abundance of sumptuous vineyards, restaurants, food stores, artisan producers and orchards this micro area offers. Evening is at leisure. (B)

DAY 3: Sunday 12 November Red Hill

The Mornington Peninsula vineyards are famous. After a leisurely start, we’ll hop from one cellar door to the next and compare pinot noir, pinot gris and chardonnay. For lunch, we will indulge in a beautiful 3-course lunch at the spectacular Port Phillip Estate restaurant and enjoy stunning views over the vineyard to Westernport Bay and Phillip Island. Evening is at leisure. (B,L)

DAY 4: Monday 13 November Sorrento

After check out, we make our way to the exclusive National Golf Club, a private members-only club, where you’ll play the Old Course. The course was designed by leading course architect Robert Trent Jones Jnr back in 1988. A number of holes provide spectacular views with the standout hole being the 7th hole. A par 3 of 135 metres, it plays over a cavernous ravine to a large green which runs from left to right. The backdrop to this hole is the coastline of the Mornington Peninsula heading down to Portsea. There is only one place to hit the ball… on the green. After golf, we transfer to the delightful seaside town of Sorrento. (B)

Hotel: Hotel Sorrento, Sorrento

DAY 5: Tuesday 14 November Sorrento

Today, we make our way to Portsea Golf Club. Set amongst rolling sand dunes and coastal vegetation with spectacular views across Port Phillip Bay, this course consistently rates in the top 50 courses of Australia.

Spend a laidback afternoon browsing antiques and designer labels in quaint heritage boutiques. Or check out Sorrento’s hive of galleries and take a walk along the Sorrento-Portsea Artists Trail for some artistic inspiration. Evening is at leisure. (B)

DAY 6: Wednesday 15 November Sorrento

The Dunes Golf Club, voted as the top 16 course in Australia by Australian Golf Digest, is one of very few links style courses in Australia. All the holes are played through and over rolling sand dunes on what is known as the “Cups Country” of the Mornington Peninsula.

A walk around Sorrento’s village is experiencing living history. For a more detailed look at the region’s remarkable history, make your way to the Nepean Historical Museum and Pioneer Cottage, and Collins Settlement Historic Site.

Tonight we celebrate our champions, indulge in the memories of the week just gone by and celebrate new friendships with a gourmet presentation dinner. (B,D)
