Melbourne Cup Day is the pinnacle of Australian racing and, while most of Australia stops to watch the race, there’s nothing like being at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November for THE race. Excitement builds to fever pitch when, at 2pm, the nation draws to a halt for 200 heart-pounding seconds.

Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival is an unparalleled celebration of racing, food, wine, fashion and glamour. Imagine sitting in the grandstand opposite the winning post for both the Melbourne Cup and Oaks Day. Plus, with $200 in free bets on Melbourne Cup Day, you are sure to pick a winner!

When not at the races, you will be playing Melbourne’s famed sandbelt courses, Huntingdale and Sandhurst — both private members-only clubs.

This popular tour also features a celebratory welcome dinner and your final night presentation dinner, along with the fun, friendship and professionalism synonymous with Go Golfing tours.

DAY 1: Sunday 3 November

Welcome to the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival!

Fly into Melbourne for your private transfer to the Parkview Hotel, Albert Park. Settle in and make yourself at home. Set along a tree-lined boulevard and overlooking Albert Park and Melbourne city skyline, this upscale hotel is the perfect pied-à-terre while you enjoy your golf and racing carnival sojourn.

This evening, we celebrate the beginning of our spring racing indulgence and bond with tour members over dinner and drinks.

DAY 2: Monday 4 November

After breakfast, we make our way to Huntingdale Golf Club. Consistently rated as one of Australia’s best golf courses, it has hosted ‘The Australian Masters’ 31 times and Victoria PGA Championship twice and a host of Australian Amateur events.

In the afternoon, take time to re-discover Melbourne. You’ll be seduced by its thriving hub of restaurants, cafés and bistros. Linger over an espresso, take in Federation history, duck into Melbourne’s famed laneways for a bite to eat or explore the arts precinct. You’ll be spoilt for choice…

Evening is at leisure.

The racing highlight of the day is the $1million Group 1 Crown Oaks race which features the best three-year-old fillies in Australia. Don’t forget to wear a pink rose, the official flower of Crown Oaks Day.

After the last race has been run, we make our way back to the hotel. Kick your heels off and refresh before we gather to toast our champions and friendships — new & old — over our gala presentation dinner at the hotel.

A trip to the Melbourne Cup should be on everyone’s bucket list. Our seat positions in the grandstand made for two really enjoyable days at the races. The accommodation was great, food and service excellent.

Ralph & Sybil Richardson (Melbourne, 2017)

Oaks day was wonderful! Huntingdale was a great experience, being in the clubhouse and seeing the trophy and photos of all of those who have won the event. It was great catching up with Graeme, a great tour leader who seems to take all things in his stride and handle things with a minimum of fuss. It was a great holiday and the days just flew by.

Wendy Hocking (Melbourne, 2017)

Being amongst the beautiful roses and horses at the Melbourne Cup and soaking up the atmosphere of a special day. Enjoyed Oaks Day for fashion and fun.

Judy O’Rourke (Melbourne, 2017)

All in all a very enjoyable experience. The golf was excellent and both courses were in good condition. Graeme was the perfect host and made us all feel welcome and valued.

John Eager (Melbourne, 2017)

The Melbourne Cup was definitely the highlight and was great to go to Oaks Day as a follow up. The golf on the Sandbelt courses were also an experience achieved.

Kerry Kendle (Melbourne, 2016)

One of our best holidays. If you are going to the Melbourne Cup Go Golfing is the way to do it. Everything is done for you to perfection so you can just have a great time.
