RYDER CUP STYLE TEAM EVENT
Welcome to the King Island Cup Golf Tournament. Here there is no fanfare, no award winning clubhouse, no high-rise buildings or fancy entrance road. Just two magnificent courses along some of the golfing world’s most perfectly undulated links terrain, and that is what makes this place so special. I invite you to see the magic for yourself at the inaugural King Island Cup Golf Tournament – a week of world-class golf, food, fun and friendship.
The well-being of our guests and team has always been, and always will be, our primary concern. New procedures have been implemented to; to enhance hygiene protocols, to comply with physical distancing requirements by relevant government authorities and to give you the peace of mind when you are travelling during these new times.
Our tour hosts are equipped to deal with enhanced hygiene and physical distancing procedures. They will operate with a duty of care and monitor the hygiene etiquette of guests, advising as needed, to ensure high standards are maintained.
We are very selective with who we work with. We partner with hotels, restaurants, ground handlers and venues that take the well-being of our guests as seriously as we do and agree to meet expected guidelines.
You can rest assured that government distancing requirements will be followed on tour. Have peace of mind that all the experiences have been screened to ensure they adhere to physical distancing and hygiene guidelines as published by governmental bodies.
The King Island Cup Golf Tournament is a Ryder Cup style team event between King Island local golfers and our group. Voted as the best King Island Golf Tournament, this format will combine twosome matchplay aggregate & better ball and the final round will be played as a singles matchplay. Single entrants will be paired into a team. Played over 3 rounds, one team will reign supreme, and the Cup will either remain with the King Island locals or be brought to the mainland to call home for the next 12 months.
Our group take over. The whole place has been booked out for our exclusive use and it wont take long before doors are left open and bottles of wine accompanied by platters of King Island cheese will be shared over balconies.
This event is extremely social! Limited to only 40 players. Interstate travellers will compete as a team and with new locals everyday. It's perfect for couples and singles. If you come alone Go Golfing will find a partner for you - that's our guarantee!
King Island is remote, untouched and naturally beautiful. Here there is no need to be doing business calls or emails. Escape to a slower paced lifestyle where houses are left unlocked and passers by wish you a good morning.

The King Island Cup is a Ryder Cup-style team event between King Island local golfers and our group. The format will combine twosome matchplay aggregate & better ball and the final round will be played as a singles matchplay. Single entrants will be paired into a team.
Played over 3 rounds, one team will reign supreme, and the Cup will either remain with the King Island locals or be brought to the mainland to call home for the next 12 months. With great Daily Prizes and Overall Prizes up for grabs, there will be plenty of reasons to get excited.
In partnership with GOLFLink (Australia) and International Golf Associations the tournament committee will review the 6 month playing history of all entrants. The tournament committee reserves the right to amend player handicaps.
The ‘slope handicap system’ will be utilised to calculate player handicaps for the Championship rounds. Under the slope system, the difficulty of the golf course and the tee blocks played from determine a player’s handicap prior to the start of each round.

Welcome to Cape Wickham, a true test of links golf that you won’t forget. If you find yourself not having the best score, take a deep breath and remind yourself of where you are – how good is golf.
Every hole on the course has an ocean view, which is extremely rare, and no 2 holes are the same. The undulating course normally plays firm, allowing the imagination to go wild with limitless shot-making possibilities. Tees, Fairways and Greens are all seeded with fescue grass, following in the footsteps of the old traditional links courses in Scotland and Ireland.

Aptly named, Ocean Dunes consists of rolling dunes and unsurpassed views along 2km of majestic coastline – land made for golf. The course has received international fame for its two spectacular signature par threes crossing the surging ocean and are sure to delight, but with so many 360 degree ocean views from nearly every hole you will certainly never forget Ocean Dunes, King Island.
The courses were the highlight – both great designs in spectacular settings – and we had them largely to ourselves. It was great to play with and against the locals – they were a very engaging, interesting and hospitable bunch – rightly proud of their island and their lifestyle. The Ryder Cup-style competition with them was a great idea.

My favourite was Cape Wickham loved the strategic play required to navigate the course. Loved the Ryder Cup format of the King Island trip getting to know the locals. More fun than playing individual all the time. Another highlight was crayfish at Currie – delicious.
Robyn McLachlan (King Island, 2021)
Awesome courses, great venues, great prizes and an extremely well-run event.
