This course is the creation of the American-Scottish course designer Pete Dye and his team. It was designed to stir the spirit of challenge in the golfer. With powerfully undulating fairways and greens you will feel the pressure as you play this predominantly links style course. With barely any trees or forests between you and the adjacent holes, should you venture into the neighbouring hole be sure to greet the players there and always check your ball before hitting it. You will feel as though you are receiving a special treat while playing this masterpiece and the entire facility is first rate from the course to the large designer clubhouse. Everything you need is here so just bring yourself and prepare for the challenge!
The spacious course on natural highlands changes dramatically over the four seasons. The evergreens such as pine and cypress that surround the entire course give a calm and dignified atmosphere to the classic Japanese landscape, and relatively short distances between holes will not tire you out. The fairways are wide, averaging about 40 yards, so you can enjoy the intrinsic pleasures of golf with no-holds-barred swings.
The Pencross bent-grass continuous greens are somewhat large at an average of 700 square meters. The famous short 12th hole (157 yards) has the largest green on this course at about 1,000 square meters, plus a complex undulation, making it a delightful strategic challenge to play.
Hosts the Studio Alice Women’s Open on the LPGA Tour every April. While hilly, it is a champion course of vast scale, which players from beginner to advanced can enjoy strategically approaching. And the 18th hole, which became famous on TV for its difficult cross-pond shot, is a challenge you’ll want to take on at least once. Play a round of golf in comfort with all carts equipped with the latest navigation systems.
Dine luxuriously while enjoying a panoramic view from the 4th floor restaurant overlooking the course. The food at the long-established Osaka Western-style food restaurant Alaska is also very popular. There is a large shop operated by Niki Golf, offering a wide variety of goods. The public bath is spacious and there are saunas as well. Designed by Osamu Ueda, the course will soon celebrate the 60th anniversary of its opening.
Overlooking the beautiful Kobe Harbour, the Kobe Oriental Hotel offers luxurious accommodation in the heart of the historic Kyu-Kyoryuchi area. Golfers can work out at the free-use fitness centre, or relax with beauty massages at the on-site salon. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
Rooms with chic décor are fitted with stylish furnishings, and feature a flat-screen TV, a fridge and an electric kettle. The en suite bathroom includes a bath tub and free toiletries. Most rooms boast views of either the harbour or the city.
