What you don’t know about cruising Hawaii

A paradise destination, Hawaii calls for relaxation and some fun in the sun. We’ve already told you all about the islands’ spectacular golf courses, now aren’t you curious to know all the juicy details of cruising one of the world’s most beautiful tropical locations? Sit back, relax and let us take you through what you might not know about cruising the islands of Hawaii…

Pride of America

Norwegian Cruise Line’s magnificent cruise ship, Pride of America sails round trip from Honolulu every week of the year! You’ll travel to every island of Hawaii in comfort and style with a huge selection of bars, lounges, and restaurants, not to mention a luxurious spa, first-class entertainment, and constant views that will take your breath away. Pride of America also boasts Freestyle Cruising, meaning you can eat what you want, when you want as there are no set dining times and a very relaxed dress code, resulting in the perfect laid back holiday.

Did you know? Pride of America has 927 crew members! Now that’s what we call smooth sailing…

She’s all brand new

The ship was recently refurbished in 2016 as Norwegian Cruise Line President quoted, “this is much more than just a fresh coat of paint and new drapes. Pride of America is now essentially a new ship” and he’s not exaggerating. Pride of America has had a stunning makeover which has seen top-to-tail renovations for a selection of the ship’s bars, restaurants and lounges and a complete refurbishment of the pool deck including a new pool, loungers and jacuzzis.

All staterooms have also been refreshed with brand new bedding, furniture and TVs. Don’t forget to make time for the ship’s new photo studio where you can have professional photos taken to keep your holiday memories long after you’ve disembarked.

There’s always a view

Whether you are oceanside or facing the luscious Hawaiian Islands, the view is always spectacular and with an abundance of balconies and viewing areas on deck, you won’t miss a thing. You’ll get to witness beautiful Hawaiian sunsets and watch the lava of Kilauea Volcano flow into the waters of Hawai’i – the Big Island.

There is no shortage of food

Complimentary dining is available all day every day in the Aloha Cafe, the ship’s main dining option. Lined with windows on both sides, the cafe features a wide variety of buffets from hot breakfasts, to tropical fruits, to dinners of all international flavours. Sweet treats are also in abundance with a range of pastries, cakes and soft serve ice cream.

Did you know? Pride of America goes through 660 litres of ice cream every week!

Aloha Cafe is great for a relaxed atmosphere and easy dining. However, if you prefer the finer things in life, there are many delicious restaurants that provide a top quality dining experience. Enjoy oriental flavours at Asian fusion restaurant East Meets West, or get the classic American experience at Cadillac Diner complete with 1950s rock ‘n’ roll decor. If you’re feeling Italian, specialty dining option La Cucina will warm your soul with European favourites. Don’t worry, there’s a gym on the ship… for you to view at your leisure before returning to the buffet – we know how it is.

The weather is sunniest in June

The month of June typically has the least amount of rainfall for Hawaii, making it an exceptional time to travel to the islands. Marking the beginning of Summer, Hawaii’s hottest temperatures are not typically experienced until August, meaning the weather in June should be just right.
