Located only 37 kms from the heart of New Dehli, you’ll discover a well-balanced course, with holes that vary in direction, look and feel…
THE STORY BEHIND THE CLASSIC GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
This Jack Nicklaus designed golf course was the first of its kind in Asia when it opened it opened its doors in 1998.
It did not take long for golfers to make the journey to India for a golfing challenge. In 2000 and 2001, it hosted India’s most prestigious golf tournament, the Indian Open. It became the first privately-owned club to hold the event.
THE CLASSIC GOLF & COUNTRY COURSE
The course was made to cater to all golfers. It feels easy and fun for the novices at first sight while the more discerning golfers find it a technical challenge at every shot.
The golf course includes an 18-hole signature championship course Ridge & Valley and a 9-hole signature Canyon course. Nicklaus’ philosophy was to create a unique experience for golfers. He did so by mixing shot value and blending holes that favour precision over power.
The first nine of the championship course rewards accuracy more than distance. The Ridge has two holes where water bodies run alongside the fairways and features par-3s which are shorter and more undulating compared to the rest of the layout.
The back nine, Valley, is longer than the other 2 nines providing big hitters with an advantage. This is highlighted in the par-3 11th which runs 206 metres and makes scoring par a rare feat.
Despite not being a part of the championship 18-hole course, if you get the chance to play Canyon take it! It is one of the most scenic nines in India with the Aravalli ranges surrounding the course from 3 sides. It is a risk vs. reward challenge you will enjoy throughout.
The 13th at the Classic Golf & Country Club is a brute of a hole. The par-4 measures just under 400 metres and plays uphill from the tee all the way to the green.

The design vision for the course was to enhance the natural eco-system. It is the first golf course in history to be constructed with 100% organic material to enrich the dry, sandy soil.
