Introducing the Irish Augusta

Introducing the Irish Augusta

Ireland is home to some incredible golfing greens and this course is absolutely supreme. The new-look Adare Manor Golf Club in Ireland is an unforgettable experience of parkland golf that is unrivalled anywhere else in Europe. Set on the peaceful waters of the River Maigue, the gorgeous landscape provides ever-changing vistas and breathtaking approaches.

THE STORY BEHIND ADARE MANOR

The manor of Adare itself dates back to 1229; however, it wasn’t until 1995 that a golf course was built on site. Robert Trent Jones Snr, known as one of the best routing specialists, was behind the design that credited the course as one of the greatest parkland layouts in Ireland.

A key moment in the club’s history was hosting the Irish Open in 2007. The publicity from the event grew the course’s popularity attracting golfers from around the world to play at the estate.

In 2015, Irish billionaire, J.P. McManus, bought Adare Manor with the vision of rebuilding the course to host the Ryder Cup in 2026. Legendary architect, Tom Fazio, was employed for the redesign and did such a great job it received the 2018 Best Renovation of the Year by Golf.Com.

Four years on, his vision was a success with Adare Manor announced as the Ryder Cup venue for 2026.

“Most golfers will never have seen anything like this course. This will be a stand out course in Europe.” – Tom Fazio

THE COURSE

This course has been compared to Augusta and for good reason.

There is no rough making for an incredible run of immaculately-groomed, green fairways. There are also only 42 bunkers, filled with glorious white sand, dotted across the course. However, the best feature is the greens.

They are the real deal. Placed above the fairways, they are bent with many slopes to create a quick putting surface. Speeds recorded on the greens are very similar to the home of the Masters.

Each hole has been reconstructed with the latest technology and innovations creating a course full of character, challenges and satisfaction from every level of golfer.

“Perfection… you couldn’t ask for a better golf course. This is like playing tournament golf.” – Padraig Harrington

THE SIGNATURE HOLE

The par 4 15th is a very memorable hole. Being on the green will make you feel like royalty as you putt right in front of the Adare Manor. First, you have to get to the green by conquering the dogleg layout and avoiding the burn that runs down the right side of the course. Once you make it, golf clubs down and cameras out!

Did you know

In 2007, when Adare Manor hosted the Irish Open, it became the longest course ever played in the tournament’s history. The course stretches out to 7,453 yards (or 6,815 metres).
