2011 ITINERARY:
DAY 1
Welcome to Canada. Meet at the stately Fairmont Palliser hotel and check in at leisure. Time to rest before our welcome dinner where we’ll get to know each other and take part in our fun Calcutta auction. This evening our host will provide you with a tour briefing to ensure you get the most enjoyment from this tour. (D)
DAY 2
Up bright and early for breakfast and we’ll transfer to the Calgary Hills Country Club to kick start our golfing adventure. A stunning course, well laid out and maintained – thoroughly enjoyable. Following golf, we’ll have our daily presentations and a delicious luncheon at the clubhouse. Time to rest and get ready to bootscoot! We are off to the Calgary Stampede for the action packed evening show, featuring live performances and all of the excitement of the chuckwagon races! (B/L)
Day 3
This morning following a relaxing breakfast, we’ll board the coach for the scenic drive to Banff as we move into the Rockies. A treat for all travellers will be our stay at the Banff Springs Fairmont Hotel, styled after a Scottish Baronial Castle. Few hotels in the world rival the majesty, hospitality and grandeur of The Fairmont Banff Springs resort. Set within a UNESCO world heritage site and built in the late 1800’s you will really feel like you are in another world… Go on explore! (B)
DAY 4
Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast before we visit breathtaking Lake Louise, Natural Bridge and Emerald Lake. Make sure you bring your camera – this is not to be missed! This afternoon golfers will tee it up at Banff Springs Golf Course. The course is an exciting layout that has made the most of the natural terrain and the surrounding mountains, creating incredible optical illusions. With remarkable views in every direction, it is easy to understand why golfers get distracted. (B)
DAY 5
Today we head off into the heart of the Rockies for Kelowna. Kelowna is in the Okanagan Valley – the ‘fruit basket’ of Western Canada and regarded as Canada’s premier wine growing district. A wonderful drive through some of the most picturesque scenery in the region including Yoho National Park and Glacier National Park. Check in this afternoon at Delta Grand Okanagan, located lakeside. (B)
DAY 6
Following breakfast, we’ll enjoy a day at leisure in Kelowna. Many wonderful activities are available, from a relaxed walk through the many galleries, markets and museums to an afternoon cruising on the lake. During this time of year there are many performances by the lake and the annual garden festival, bursting with colour. A visit to the palatial Mission Hills Winery for a guided tour followed by a gourmet dinner and wine pairing experience second to none. (B/D).
DAY 7
Today we play Gallagher’s Canyon golf course, known internationally for its impressive test of golf and spectacular scenery. The bent grass fairways, tees and greens are boarded by majestic Ponderosa Pines and white silica bunkers creating a masterpiece. Golfers will find this course as challenging as it is scenic. This afternoon we are at leisure, free to take in the tranquil surrounds of the lake and the many amenities of the resort. (B)
DAY 8
Today following breakfast we’ll hit the trail and make our way to Whistler. A very scenic drive along the Duffy Lake Road and through historic farming towns onward to the alpine village of Whistler. Located in the Coastal Mountains, Whistler enjoyed profile and prestige as home to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Time for you to experience the atmosphere for yourself. This afternoon, why not take a cable car up to the top of Whistler and enjoy a BBQ Dinner (optional). (B)
DAY 9
Our golfing adventure takes us to Nicklaus North Golf Course. Your surroundings today include a brilliant emerald-coloured lake, majestic fir trees and fresh, invigorating mountain air. All of this inspired the great Jack Nicklaus to create this sensational layout. Located only minutes from the cobblestone walkways and street side cafes of Whistler, Nicklaus North is regarded as one of the great courses in North America. (B)
DAY 10
Up early and breakfast at Whistler Golf Club before we tackle Arnold Palmer’s first Canadian course, it’s not difficult to see why he was compelled to design a course in this location. A round of golf at the Whistler Golf Club is truly something different. While the spectacular views, signature design and uncompromising course conditions are standard fare, it is the friendly, relaxed and helpful staff that make Whistler Golf Club uniquely Whistler. The course is home to black bear, coyote, beaver and an abundance of fish and bird life. Take your camera, most of last years touring party were lucky enough to get photos of the black bears. (B)
DAY 11
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before heading south along the sea to Sky Highway which follows Howe Sound. Stop at the impressive Shannon Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in British Columbia. Board a ferry and cruise through the Georgia Strait to Vancouver Island. This afternoon, we’ll check in to the stunning Fairmont Empress Hotel. (B)
DAY 12
Following our breakfast, we’ll transfer to golf at Bear Mountain. Set in the foothills of Mount Finlayson and co-designed by Jack Nicklaus and son Steve. Bear Mountain is widely regarded as one of the finest courses Victoria has to offer. Take in panoramic mountain, city and ocean views as you play this course idyllically set within rolling fairways and lush forest. (B)
DAY 13
Golf today leads us to Olympic View Golf Club after breakfast at the hotel. Surrounded by the magnificence of the Olympic Mountains, the roar of two spectacular waterfalls, and the tranquillity of twelve lakes. The 17th with its Chinese island garden and 60 foot waterfalls behind the green is one of the most picturesque backdrops to any golf hole in the
world. (B)
DAY 14
Following breakfast, we will tour the famous Butchart Gardens, a 22 hectare showpiece of magnificent colourful gardens. Then we’ll board the ferry to Vancouver and on arrival we’ll tour the city’s highlights including Gastown, Stanley Park, the waterfront and Chinatown. Evening at leisure. (B)
DAY 15
Transfer to Westwood Plateau Golf Course following your breakfast. Westwood Plateau is already rated in the top 10 of Canada’s public courses and the 5th hole has the distinguished honour of being selected as one of Canada’s top 18 holes. Evening at leisure. (B)
DAY 16
Relax this morning and take the day at your own pace. Time for some last minute shopping before our afternoon tour and presentation dinner. We’ll visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge, the world’s longest suspension foot bridge and experience the ‘Treetops Adventure’ forest canopy walkway. We’ll take the famous Grouse Mountain Sky ride above the Douglas Firs and enjoy breathtaking views of the city, sparkling Pacific Ocean, Gulf Islands and snowy peaks. This is North America’s largest aerial tramway. At the top of Grouse Mountain see grizzly bears in the refuge for endangered wildlife. A fitting finale to celebrate our victors and relive the memories of a wonderful time is our presentation dinner on Grouse Mountain with fine regional fare and wines. (B/D)
DAY 17
A hearty breakfast and then we bid farewell to Canada or continue with your onward journey.
