2011 ITINERARY:
Day 1: A flight from Australia will have you arriving in Hong Kong around 10pm local time. Our local tour guide will greet us, then you will be transferred to the centrally located Kimberley Hotel for a quiet evening so we can get an early start in the morning.
Day 2: Following breakfast we travel from Hong Kong across the China border to Shenzhen to store our golf clubs before our flight to Shanghai to start our cultural and sightseeing adventure. Group check in to the Salvo Hotel and afternoon sight seeing activities, welcome dinner. (B/D)
Day 3: Visit the Shanghai Museum, the Yu Garden, and the Silk Factory. Chinese lunch and dinner. (B/L/D)
Day 4: Easy morning. Transfer to the airport and take flight to go to Beijing. Lunch on board (snacks). On arrival, our guide will meet the group at the airport. Transfer to the Novotel Hotel. Visit the Temple of Heaven and revel in the Peking Duck Dinner at the famous Quanjude Restaurant. (B/L/D)
Day 5: We continue our city highlights tour of the Forbidden City and tranquil Summer Palace, Beijing Zoo and Tiananmen Square and the changing of the guards ceremony at dusk. (B/L/D)
Day 6: Put on your walking shoes and definitely bring the camera for you are about to visit one of the greatest wonders of the world The Great Wall of China! Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus stretching approximately 6,700 kilometres (4,163 miles) from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, it will be sure to captivate you. In the afternoon we visit the Cloisonne shop. Free shopping in the local market. Chinese lunch. (B/L)
Day 7: Easy morning. Transfer to the airport and take the flight to Xian. Lunch onboard. Our tour guide will meet the group at the airport and transfer to the city. Stay in Xian Hotel. Visit the Ancient City Wall. Chinese dumpling dinner and the Tang Dynasty show. (B/L/D)
Day 8: Full day excursion to the Terra Cotta Warriors. Free shopping in the local market. Chinese lunch and dinner. This afternoon we fly to Yichang to board the purpose built cruiser for our excursion down the Yangtze. (B/L/D)
Day 9: The mighty Yangtze, largest river in China, is said to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. The ‘Ten Thousand Li River’ flows 6,300 kilometres from the snowy heights of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to the East China Sea, just north of Shanghai. It goes by many local names, but to the Chinese it is most common name is simply Chang Jiang (Long River). (B/L/D)
Day 10: An old saying goes “If you haven’t travelled down Chang Jiang, you haven’t been anywhere” because the river winds through some of China’s most spectacular scenery. In the western Wu Shan (Witch Mountains) it meets the world-famous Three Gorges renowned for their dramatic beauty, cultural treasures, religious and historical sites, and Three Gorges Dam. (B/L/D)
Day 11: Today we continue cruising and we’ll enjoy a shore excursion in the morning of the Lesser Three Gorges followed by the passing of Qutang
Gorge. This evening delight in traditional Chinese entertainment and a lavish dinner on board. (B/L/D)
MISSION HILLS and MISSION HILLS + POST TOUR will arrive in Hong Kong and transfer to the Kimberly Hotel. (D)
Day 12: Arrive Chongqing. Our local guide will meet the group and transfer to the airport for the flight to Shenzhen. On arrival, transfer to the Mission Hills golf resort. After checking in we will visit the huge Lowu shopping complex to make any purchases of designer label copies or golf equipment -we can recommend a reputable golf outlet with good quality equipment. This evening we will enjoy our welcome dinner in the Mountain Cafe. (B/D)
MISSION HILLS and MISSION HILLS + POST TOUR guests will transfer to Shenzhen for some shopping at the Lowu Shopping Centre before checking in at the magnificent Mission Hills to join early tourers for our welcome dinner.
Day 13: After breakfast we commence our golf challenge on the Vijay course. Vijay Singh, winner of the US Masters in 2000, gives us an insight into the
excitement of tournament golf. This course skilfully incorporates the Pebble Beach 18 hole design which makes it the most spectacular in Asia. (B/D)
Day 14: This morning we transfer to the Duong Guan club house and the golfers will enjoy a round at the Greg Norman course. The club house will be an eye-opener. Non-golfers can indulge at Mission Hills in the spa or at the pool or take a transfer to another local shopping complex. (B/D)
Day 15: Golfers awake each day with great anticipation of the golfing challenge ahead. Today it is the "Leadbetter". Swing doctor to the world's best professionals, David Leadbetter was selected to design his first ever course at Mission Hills, and what a beauty it is. It requires a true test of skill and will be an enjoyable
challenge for all. (B/ D)
Day 16: Today we have a further venture to Lowu and pick up any garments you ordered. We follow with a city tour including the Silk Market and
Splendid China. It is here that you will see the largest and most elaborate miniature scenery parks in the world. Whilst rich and comprehensive, it is a lively replica of China,
reflecting long-standing history, brilliant culture, art and ancient architecture. You will be enthralled by a spectacular theatre show to end off the day. (B/L/D)
Day 17: Another hearty breakfast before we tackle the Els Course. The theme of the Els Course was to create a lush look of dense trees, wide
swaths of manicured turf to evoke a unique flavour of his South Africa - you will be in for another memorable golfing experience. (B/D)
Day 18: After breakfast our final round at Mission Hills awaits. Tensions will mount as we have a seeded draw to determine the tour champions and much
will be riding on the teams event. Today we tackle the renowned World Cup Course, a golfers’ delight and you won't be disappointed. This evening we relive the golfing and tour
highlights with a farewell and presentation dinner. (B/D)
Day 19: After breakfast we check out of Mission Hills Resort and prepare for our border crossing to Hong Kong and onward flights The group leaving the tour will be transferred to Hong Kong to connect their flight back home.
