Forget the last minute shopping, slaving in a kitchen and hosting family.
Replace all this with a fully escorted New Zealand Christmas Golf Cruise where you will be entertained, pampered, enjoy great food (and no washing up!) and play 4 of New Zealand’s premier and most scenic courses. This cruise has it all – Christmas and New Year celebrations…
Unpack once and wake up every day to a new destination… On this fully escorted cruise, playing golf is smooth sailing and getting to the golf courses is a breeze. You can look forward to playing the famed Royal Wellington, Clearwater, Otago and Mount Maunganui golf clubs. After golf, return to the ship for 19th hole refreshments and prize presentations.
It’s easy to get into the Christmas spirit, as ships are trimmed from stem to stern in festive holiday decor, complete with wreaths, holly, mistletoe and, of course, Christmas trees. Celebrate the dawn of a new year with a decadent menu, champagne, the dropping of a thousand balloons and an amazing dance band.
Make 2017 the year you sail away to New Zealand for the festive season and start 2018 refreshed. Departing Melbourne on 21 December, tour with like-minded golf travellers and an affable host to experience the wonders of the ‘land of the long white cloud.’
You better be quick, Go Golfing’s annual Christmas cruise always sells fast. All Aboard!
Fly into Melbourne before 11.30am for your group transfer to Melbourne’s International Passenger Terminal where you will board the Golden Princess. Settle in and make yourself at home. Your stateroom will be your home away from home while you’re on board. You’ll enjoy the trademark attentive service that will make cruising a wonderful escape from routine. Unpack once and wake up everyday in a new port…
This evening we have exclusive use of Sabatini’s for a sumptuous welcome dinner with the twinkling lights of Melbourne and Port Phillip behind us. You’ll feel you’ve been transported to the Italian countryside. Enjoy specialties like roasted rack of veal, lobster cooked three ways and regionally inspired pastas. And the service is superb!
Out at sea, you’re free to relax and unwind…
Onboard this floating resort, there is something happening wherever you turn. Watch a Movie Under the Stars, laugh out loud at quick-witted comedians, and be dazzled by renowned illusionists. Enjoy creative multi-course dinners or Anytime Dining which lets you dine with whom you wish and when you wish. And nothing goes quite so well with a magical holiday moment like the perfect drink at one of the numerous bars – and here is a handy little tip: a drinks’ package will see you happily sip a different cocktail every day. What indulgence and decadence!
Or why don’t you spoil yourself at the Lotus Spa, or stay in shape at the state of the art gymnasium or visit the art gallery? You’ll be surprised how quickly the days at sea will sail by.
This is a Christmas you’ll never forget…
Celebrate this special day in Auckland. Straddling a narrow isthmus created by 60 different volcanoes, New Zealand’s former capital boasts scenic beauty, historical interest and a cosmopolitan collection of shops, restaurants, museums, galleries and gardens. Rangitoto, Auckland’s largest and youngest volcano, sits in majestic splendour just offshore. Mt. Eden and One Tree Hill, once home to Maori earthworks, overlook the city.
After a day ashore exploring the sights, join the group for a fun-filled Christmas dinner.
Our first round is at Mount Maunganui, located in the picturesque Bay of Plenty. It is named after an extinct volcano that rises dominantly above the town – affectionately referred to by the locals as The Mount. The course is a beautiful links-style course, embedded within the sand dunes of Mt Maunganui. Return on board for 19th hole fun and prize presentations.
‘Gizzy’ to her friends, Gisborne is a pretty place, squeezed between surf beaches and a sea of chardonnay. It proudly claims to be the first city on earth to see a new dawn.
Today, golf takes a back seat in favour of touring Gisborne’s premier wineries. The mix of gentle sunshine, lush landscapes, fascinating history, a laid-back lifestyle and the exciting range of wines makes Gisborne a seductive destination. We stop at the Wrights Vineyard where they produce hand-crafted boutique wines certified organic.
We’ve pulled some strings. Today you play the exclusive, members-only, Royal Wellington – proud host of 7 NZ Open Championships. The course is the first golf club to have received Royal status in NZ.
Sited on an ancient river bed, it weaves its way through cultivated parkland hosting thousands of mature native and exotic trees. Birdlife is abundant. Several creeks and a large lake are all in play and present a true challenge for the adventurous.
The turquoise waters of Akaroa and abundant sea life including seals and dolphins welcome us today, as we make our way to Clearwater. Walk in the footsteps of Clearwater graduates such as Jason Dufner, Bubba Watson, Jason Day and most recently Lydia Ko. A magnificent 18-hole golf course awaits you…
Next stop is Dunedin where we play Otago Golf Club, known locally as Balmacewen. Boasting a proud heritage, the golf course is one of the oldest in the Southern hemisphere and one of New Zealand’s finest. It offers a unique blend of links and parkland golf with expansive views of the city, Otago Peninsula and the surrounding hills.
Today the ship will wind its way through the mythical Fiordland National Park. It is New Zealand’s largest and most impenetrable wilderness. It forms a jagged and densely forested landmass ribbed with deeply recessed fiords cutting through towering mountains. It is awe inspiring and an all-day scenic cruise experience.
Wake up as the ship enters the Dusky Sound with its beautiful landscape of sheer rocky cliffs anchored in indigo waters. At the heart of Fiordland National Park lies Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. Lined by cliffs that soar nearly a mile above its surface, Milford Sound cuts into the heart of the Southern Alps. Rainforest clings to the cliffs and graceful waterfalls plummet into the void. Mile-high Mitre Peak dominates the upper reaches of the sound.
Princess ships welcome each new year in style with a fun-filled New Year’s Eve party complete with music, confetti, balloon drop and, of course, champagne to join the ship staff in a toast to the arrival of January 1. Start the celebrations with a refreshing cocktail to toast the dawn of a new year and celebrate the night away…
Time flies when you’re having fun and today we head for home. Perhaps it is time to settle into a cosy lounge chair by the pool and finish that novel you’ve been reading. Or you can let Princess take you back to some fun filled disco dancing.
On our last night, we celebrate our champions and toast new friendships with a farewell dinner in Crown Grill where you’ll dine on eye fillet and lobster tails – as many as you like.
